How To Make Cheese Raspberry Bacon Tarts

These tarts are so simple and are quick to whip up in a hurry. Sometimes we forget we signed up to bring an appetizer to a party and this is always our go-to. During the holidays we use cranberry sauce instead of raspberry jam.

Bacon Raspberry Cheese Bite Ingredients

We designed these easy cheesy bacon and cheese bites to use only a few ingredients that are widely available and easy to find.

  • Package phyllo cups (1.9 ounce) – these simple cups are easy to find at Walmart and are the basis for the tarts.
  • Brie or camembert cheese (8 ounces) – you can pick whichever cheese you prefer. These cheeses melt well and combine with the other ingredients splendidly.
  • Raspberry preserves (4 tbsp) – jam brings the sweetness to these cups.
  • Cooked bacon (4 slices, finely chopped) – perfectly crispy bacon adds a wonderful savory salty bite.

Steps to Make Bacon Raspberry Cheese Bites

Once you have assembled the ingredients, use this method:

Assemble Cups

Remove the cups from the package and arrange them on a small baking sheet.

Add Cheese

Remove the rind of the cheese and divide into 15 even pieces and place one in each of the cups.

Add Preserves

Add 1 teaspoon of raspberry preserves to each of the cups.

Top with Bacon and Bake

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Top each cup with crumbled bacon and bake for 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese has melted.

Kitchen notes

Drain Bacon. Let bacon rest on paper towels to drain off excess grease before adding to cheese dip – letting the grease drain off will help your bacon get extra crunchy and suited to this cheesy dip!

How to Cook Bacon. To get solid crunchy bacon, there are two methods – use pan fried bacon that you let cool, and then crumble – or cut it and pan fry bits to crunchy.

Mix it Up. We prefer using preserves over jams or jellies, because we like the slightly more tart, chunky fruit style and less sweet jellies that are thin. We like using these jams: Tart cherry preserves, Lingonberry jam, and Blueberry preserves.

Bacon Bits. To cut bacon bits, we like to cut it with kitchen scissors when still cold, then pan fry until brown and crispy. Bacon is easier to cut when cold – and we find it crisps up more evenly to cut before cooking instead of crumbling after cooking whole slices of bacon.
